Resident Crime Update – 16 Weeks in Prison for Repeat Shop Thief The Dronfield Safer Neighbourhood Team would like to update our community on the outcome of a recent case that has been causing concern for local residents and businesses. Anthony Ferns, of The Chart Row Centre in Sheffield, has now been sentenced following a series of four shop thefts committed at Sainsbury’s in Dronfield since January 2026. These incidents created frustration for staff, financial impact for the store, and understandable worry within the community. Following thorough work by officers, Ferns was identified, arrested, and placed before the courts. This week, he received a 16‑week custodial sentence, reflecting the repeated nature of his offending and the impact his actions have had on our town. Shop theft isn’t just a minor inconvenience. It affects local businesses, puts pressure on staff, and can make both workers and shoppers feel unsafe. Our team knows how important it is that residents can go about their daily lives without disruption or concern, and that shops can operate without persistent offenders targeting them. We want to reassure the community that we are continuing to take firm, proactive action against individuals who choose to commit crime in Dronfield. Offenders who repeatedly impact our neighbourhoods will continue to be identified, arrested, and put before the courts whenever possible. Thank you for your continued support. Your reports, information and engagement help us focus on the right areas and deal swiftly with those who cause harm. Together, we can continue to make Dronfield a safe and welcoming place for everyone. #Sentenced #NoShoppingNeeded | ||
